Bringing Adobe Substance 3D Models to Life Using a Mimaki 3D Full Color Printer!
The printed models were given to the talented creators at CREPOLE, a design school in France.
(Paris, France) MIMAKI ENGINEERING CO., LTD. collaborated with CREAPOLE, a comprehensive design school in France. The 3DUJ-553 was used to 3D print the digital models created by the winning students. The full-color 3D prints were awarded to the students after the workshop.
While learning to use Adobe’s Substance 3D Collection (3D design software), the students who participated in the 3-day workshop worked with professional designers from On, a Swiss shoe company, to produce wonderful designs.
Adobe reached out to us for help with making these shoe designs a reality. We at Mimaki happily assisted this educational experience by 3D printing the 3 winning shoe designs in full color. The 3 shoe models as seen in the picture above were awarded to the students after the workshop.
"Having Mimaki as a valued partner for this innovative education project added an extra layer of excitement for the students. They were thrilled to see their digital assets realized as stunning 3D prints, creating memories and experiences that will inspire them for years to come."
Alwyn Hunt, Head of Education, Partnerships, 3D & Immersive

About Adobe Substance 3D
Adobe Substance 3D provides 3D artists all the content they need packaged in a smart application with high-end content. By using Substance 3D, designers can create 3D models with textures that are photorealistic that can be used in product design.
This all-digital approach allows for rapid iteration and experimentation with the color, material, and finish of products at the design phase, reducing the need for wasteful physical prototypes. By enabling teams to experiment rapidly with CMF in a virtual environment, they can align on designs faster and more efficiently.
Once the final designs are selected, they can be exported in a 3D printable format and turned into full-color 3D prints using Mimaki’s advanced printers.* By empowering teams to make decisions based on accurate digital prototypes and only printing the final versions, the product design process is significantly accelerated, gives designers more time to experiment, and drives sustainability in product design.
*Depending on the condition of the 3D model data, additional steps may be required before printing.
